Our personnel have
combined in excess of 100 years of surety experience. Many of ICU’s
personnel have run other branch offices or have been in key surety company
positions. There is a wealth of experience and knowledge and a long history
of success, both in terms of coming up with creative ways to support certain
accounts or providing the best terms for the more well
healed and qualified organizations.
Independent Corporate Underwriters (ICU)
KEVIN MCCABE is President of Independent Corporate
Underwriters (ICU), a Managing General Underwriter for three national surety
carriers. Kevin has 30 years of experience in the surety industry. He began
his career with Reliance Surety in 1980. At Reliance, Kevin worked in various
positions within the Home Office and in management roles in Reliance’s
Valley Forge, Boston and Orlando branch offices. He then went on to
form a new start surety company, Atlantic Alliance
Fidelity & Surety Company (Atlantic) in
which he had a minority ownership position. Kevin remained in the role of
President for Atlantic from 1989 to 1994. In
1994 he left Atlantic to start a surety
specific MGU called Independent Corporate Underwriters. At ICU, Kevin and his
team focus on surety programs for firms that fall outside standard surety
carrier new account guidelines, are considered complex risks, and/or require
structured underwriting terms and conditions. If ICU were an independent
insurance company, their writings would put them in the top 50 surety writers
and their results would exceed the industry results.
